Is it me or the episode felt a bit rushed?
Episode 2:
I do not like it. I understand that there are time skips here (and a lot, apparently), but when not time skipping, it is extremely rushed. I could see this still work in manga, due to format's "restrictions", but here it feels sloppy, as if people adapting the story do not care for the moments, that clearly should be more drawn out.
Will give it a chance for 1 more episode, but if it will be the same - will drop it. I have manga in my list to read anyways.
The problem of the 2nd season is not just the increased pacing, which does make sense, at least in some places. The problem is more in the fact that new characters are in no way relatable, and the pacing just worsens that. Previously quite some time was built on drawing out the characters, letting us learn about them through Fushi, but now they are a blur. Not just because of the time skips, but because Fushi is shown not to care for them even.
On one hand it then makes sense to introduce some "flashy" character, that would Fushi out of the established shell. Due to senses overload or something. But on the other hand - that would not be realistic, and thus relatable. If you think about it, in Fushi mindset (as it is told, not shown) that would just be an annoyance to avoid. But in the anime, he is not avoiding it, and motivation is quite weak. And yet... He absorbs the annoyance for some reason, even there is no meaningful interaction or some traumatic event to bond them. Your common logic won't accept it, and this is what causes this dissonance.
