Was the story written before YouTube? Or is YouTube not that big a thing in South Korea? I mean, the guy could have tried recording it and publishing to YouTube. No need to record himself even, if he would want to avoid comments about his looks. This kind of thing is not that rare, IRL, too, with some people even making a break for it (Reol comes to my mind).
