Feels nostalgic. And I have not even watched the original. But overall feel, pacing, humor, it feels like some anime I saw when I was a kid (without yet differentiating them from cartoons). Looks great, sounds great... What more can you want? You definitely need to be open-minded, though, because some points may feel "crude", because the humor is "old-like", so some things may feel even more sexist than humor in some harem anime. I guess it's the context of gender-swap, that adds to it, as well as the fact, that it's not a harem, so you do not expect it to be sexist. But if you are fine with those - you will be fine with this. I am fine, so sticking with it, hoping that Ranma will stay a girl: it suits him/her more, I think.
