Did we really need a recap?.. Even if we did, did it need to be for full episode, instead of, say, 5 minutes? It’s not like the story was that complex.

Episode 3:

Looks like the theme of "you also need to enjoy the sport" will continue in this season, as well, but will also be accompanied by the theme of pressure from parents (and maybe not only) to do things in a specific way, and only that way, which kills that enjoyment as result. I am not a golfer, and reactions of characters to how Tonbo does things amuses me, because in my mind the goal of golf is to get the ball into the hole with as few swings as possible, and everything else is just superficial.

Episode 4:

I did not like how conveniently Tonbo got new stuff this episode. Felt unnatural. If someone bought all the new gear for her, that would be more realistic. I also hope there will be some pressure on her during competition.

Episode 5:

I didn’t like this episode. The start felt chaotic and somehow out of sync or out of order. There was no pressure on Tonbo besides like 2 seconds, where it were her fears, rather than someone being better than her (which she needs). Shima felt… Out of place. I get it that they wanted to, perhaps, replace Igaiga by someone with mature look, but also focused on enjoyment of gold more, than of competition, but she just did not feel believable. Can’t really put my finger on why.

Episode 7:

It was all over the place. I am glad, that Tonbo was not perfect this time, but her mistakes felt too random and forced. The attempts at building tension felt weak to me. Is it really that big of a deal if the ball moves by like a centimeter, especially if this happens when removing debris or touching grass nearby? Not sure I get why Tonbo cried in the end, especially since it did not look like tears of happiness. Also, while this is technically true for previous episode as well, but… Why would there be an alligator in the pond at gold course? Or a fish for that matter. Don’t they ensure there is no life in those?

Episode 11:

Not only the “change of perspective” for Tonbo felt very forced, it didn’t really change her or anything really. 🤷🤷

Episode 12:

Yeah, right, of course the dad will suddenly realize that he was at fault 🤦‍♂️ Not buying it.

Episode 13:

They ruined the show, IMHO. Not because they started with a recap and then ended with one as well. They wasted whole 2 opportunities. They did not even try to each anything about golf, at least not to people who are not already familiar with it, and they did not really develop Tonbo's character.

First season, which I really liked, worked with lack of explanations of basics of golf, because its point was to show how Tonbo is talented even without proper "education". Its point was to show how amazing she was, but gently push her to leave the island, so that she can fully realize her potential and just rot there. And it achieved its purpose in that.

Don't know about you all, but I expected that 2nd season would challenge her, that it would be stressful, that it would make her question things. But, as I've mentioned in previous comments - it did not. At times they were saying that there is a challenge or a change - but they were not shown. There was some pressure, yes, but other girls had way more compared to Tonbo, who still just wanted to "play a game". Which is not a bad thing necessarily, it was also one of the themes of this season, but where is the 2nd theme? Tonbo did not grow here at all.

And it would also make total sense to start actually teaching here by telling her (and thus viewers) the basics. yes, some of them would be a bit boring, perhaps, but at least some of them could be introduced in a way that also helps Tonbo realize why things she did in the past worked (or not). Or, at least, they could have leveraged the inner monologues more, and let other girls recount the basics more. They did this a couple of times, but just briefly and it was mostly about very specific things, suitable for their situation.

As such, as much as I loved the first season, this one sucked, and if there will be a 3rd season - I will not be watching.
