エオルゼアで幸せにすごしていたマゥーサは
ある日、仲間だと思っていた者達から裏切られた事に絶望した。
窮地に至ったマゥーサは天に

「救いはないんですか！？」

と祈り、哲学の極みの扉を叩いたのであった・・・

しかしながら、長い死闘の中、彼はこの世に救いが無いことを悟ってしまう。
身も心も消耗し果て、ボロボロになっていくマゥーサ。

「強くなりたい・・・！」

それは彼の心の底からの叫びであった。
だが、その結末は無情なものであり、何もかも失って力尽きてしまう。

敗北感と虚無感に襲われながらも、マゥーサはいつも自らに
言い聞かせている言葉を思い出していた。

「全てはチャンス・・・」

もう救いを求めることはやめた。
自分はこの逆境の中に身を置き続ける運命（さだめ）。
ならばそれを受け入れ、それを跳ね返す力を手に入れよう。

そして月日が流れ、エオルゼアにあの男が再び現れた。
マゥーサがスーパーマゥーサとなって帰ってきたのだ。

大迷宮バハムートにより未知のエリアへと到達した彼の身体は
全身歪みなく鍛え上げられていた。
その迷いのない顔は、彼が肉体だけでなく精神も
大きく成長したことを示していた。

不遇の道を男は行く。
自分を阻む全ての壁を、男は乗り越え、成長していった。

それこそが不遇裏（ふぐり）。
――不遇の裏こそ、活路はあり。

男は気付いていた。この手が掴むものは、差し伸べられる救いではない。
この手が掴むもの――それは、かつての自分のように、救いを求める者の手だ。

「そう、簡単なことだ。俺が救う側に回ればいいだけの話だった」

どんなに手を伸ばしても、決して届かぬものがある。
どれだけ悲痛な想いで救いを求めても、有るのはそれを拒み続ける現実だけ。

ならば、俺が救いになろう。

「この世に救いがないならば、俺が救いになればいい――」
