Satomi, an Au Ra and Doman grew up on her family's rice farm in Doma. She became friends with Yugiri during that time and their friendship eventually led to creating an underground movement to gain independence from the Empire who seemed to have grown weak. During that time she was traveling with an expedition along her then husband when she chanced upon a unconscious female Miqo'te. Satomi sensed this person would become very important. So she had her carried back to Doma along with the rest of their expedition. There she took care of this Miqo'te until she regained her health. Aeri'ica is the name she learned upon the female Miqo'te's awakening. Aeri'ica did not remember her last name or anything else about her. Satomi being the humorous kind deiced to give her a last name of Kittykat, since she was very much unfamiliar with the Miqo'te race, and thought, well she is a kind of kitty. Yugiri came by at times to visit and also agreed from her own visions that Aeri'ica was going to be very important for the future. As things were heating up with the rebels plans, it was decided that Aeri'ica be moved secretly away for her own safety. Some Domans under Satomi, and Yugiri's rebel division, secreted Aeri'ica away to the island of La Noscea and gave her a potion that would cloud her memories of her time Doma.
After the war with the Garleans ended in disaster, Satomi fled to Eorzea later as she tried to find her husband but could not. She finally fled but as with Yugiri, she had to disguise herself. Once things had cleared up, she deiced to join with the adventurers to help out and try to fit in her new home. She had been trained as a Ninja back in Doma. Since Yugiri had agreed to team up with the Rogue's Guild, and Satomi was quite intrigued with how this would look once all the training was finished, she decided to join. Even though she played no part in the Calamity and for some reason she had started having visions of Hydaelyn talking to her, Satomi wondered about this new realm and her future.
