How the former Unicorn Knight known as Tatamkanai ended up in Eorzea from his distant and possibly dimensionally-unrelated homeland of Nunathoemlen in the land of the Adhemlenei, he hasn't a clue. Maybe this is what happens when you die, or at least get hit by a black unicorn's deathbeam. Or maybe that hasn't happened yet and he just fell down a hole and hit his head. He doesn't know. We might blame it on Tharash, that's probably safe.
In any case, he's greatly enjoying his vacation in Eorzea, helping these passionate - if naive - young people to Save the World from all its many and unrelenting dangers. He unofficially mentors Achiyo Kensaki and Alphinaud, though is so hands-off one might struggle to see any mentoring happening at all. He's generally along for the ride, and thinks all this drama is a huge lark. He's become quite good friends with Haurchefant, having found in him a kindred spirit on many levels, and feels at home both in the snowy highlands of Coerthas and the deep woods of Larkscall.
He's much much older than people usually give him credit for (somewhere in excess of 5000 years, though he looks like he's about 40). Equipped with a keen political mind, he prefers to spend his time in the deep forest, exploring its green mazes, undisturbed and undisturbing of its wildlife. He avoids deep water like the plague due to his hydrophobia, but heights bother him not at all (dang dragoons amirite). He's quite definitely nuts, a daredevil, an unflappable smirky old fart who knows much and says little.
