Achiyo Kensaki is an Au Ra from Hingashi, newly come alone to Eorzea. Daughter of a samurai, but orphaned as a child, she was raised by a foreign knight who traveled Doma and taught her many things. While her entire existence in Doma was focused on survival, she hopes that living in Eorzea will be a gentler experience, one that will allow her to feel less helpless in sparing others her own fate. She doesn't want to be solely a Warrior of Light forever, but has no idea what else she wants to do with her life; occasionally gets depressed about her uncertainty. Still wants to protect her adopted home with all her strength.
She meets Chuchupa before the rest of the party, and finds in her an unlikely but staunch ally and friend, and comes to respect Tam and feel like an older sister to Rinala. She enjoys the beauty of La Noscea, but finds herself drawn to Ishgard...
Achiyo is very formal and often finds it difficult to break out of the habit of using honorifics. She guards her pride and her honour closely, but has a strong protective feeling for those around her. She is also brave, intelligent, curious, and introspective.
