Wolftale Kismet always believed he had the soul of a hero. Tending to his cattle in eastern Thanalan he often stared into the horizon, dreaming of what is out there, past his simple existence. He was doomed to follow in his father's footsteps,just like his father before him, chained to a lineage of myotragus Shepherds. A fate he sadly excepted due to love and respect he had for his family. That is, until the day the calamity struck. Whilst tending to a calf that had wandered off, an eruption of deafening explosions seemed to surround him, and the nights sky lit as though the sun was at it's highest. It all felt like a dream, or perhaps a nightmare, wolftale ran, ran as fast as his trembling legs would let him. He reached the peak of the hill nearest to his village and fell to his knees, through tear blurred eyes, he looked at where his home and the home of many others stood, and found none. It was gone, they were all gone. In place was now monstrous monoliths of orange crystals. The hell that rained from the sky claimed his home, his family, his life as he knew it.. The sky finally became dark once more, a terrible silence filled his ears. Distraught and with no where to go wolftale began walking, aimlessly, just knowing that he didn't want to stay there. For days he wandered the back lands. His existence seemed empty, all he wanted was an end. And it found him. Not watching the path he found himself confronted by a massive toad. And within a fraction of a second he was inside it's belly. Believing his end had finally came, he closed his eyes, trying to find peace. But there was none to be found. Instead there was a burn, an intense desire he didn't know could still exist within him. He wanted to live! Reaching to his side he found he still had his knife and began plunging it into the beasts stomach. He laid outside, next to the beasts corpse. Staring into the nights sky he found new meaning to his life. Wolftale wanted to protect life, to protect others, he wanted to be the shield of Eorzea. Becoming a paladin was fate. His journey lead to new and lasting friendships forged, and eventually the creation of "Kiln of First Flame" free company. His new family. One he will always protect and cherish. His shield will protect Eorzea and all those that call her home.
