Nix lux Obscurum, born as Nix ban Obscurum as a general citizen of Garlemald in the continent of Ilsabard. Nix raised through the ranks and ended up earning a career as a Magitek engineer, to which he earned the title 'Lux' signifying the aforementioned. Nix was a dedicated engineer and sought also to fight for his empire, to which he took upon himself to learn hand to hand combat, and learned the art of the lancer. He was born and raised by parents who always wished the best for him and always showed him to fight for the greater good, which to Nix was the Empire and his emperor Solus zos Galvus.

After he had his 21st birthday, he was adviced by his parents, that they had the Empire all wrong, and that they were conducting acts of intents of world domination, and in doing so, they would cause mass genocide to do so. Not just on beast tribes to which all Garleans thought were savages, but on Hyurs, Elezens, Roagedyn and many others alike, capturing and enslaving them. Nix had an incredibly hard time believing this, as he was raised to believe that the Garlean Empire were always doing right by them. Right as Nix' parents tell him this, they also announce that they have prepared an emergency airship, one that will take him, and he alone to Eorzea, to start his life anew, he was sent with Fantasia potion, so he could adapt easier while he gathers trust from the Eorzean citizens.

Right as Nix was about to deny, what would be to him an absurd idea. Rough knocking was heard from the front door of their home. "Open up, Obscurums! We know you are in there! We know you are planning treason! If you come out now and forfeit we will lower your charges." Nix looked at his parents in surprise asking: "What's happening? I don't understand..." his father grabs him by the shoulder and tells him: "Son, I know what you had believed for your whole life, but I beg of you, for us, please believe us. Please go, before all our effort becomes in vain." Nix stares at them afraid, and nods, gets in the airship in their secret airship room and asks: "When will I see you guys again?" His mother and father stares at him with a sense of hope, they have a big group hug and together they say: "We will always be with you, our son." As soon as they whisper that last word, Nix' father pulls a remote control out of his pocket and presses a button which actives the personal airship and sends it flying through a secret passage that leads through their roof and into the sky.

Right as he is sent up, Nix in despair screams: "No! Father! Mother!" and right before he loses complete sight of them through the clouds he can see his parents smiling at him, while behind him he can see a couple of Garlean soldiers pointing guns at his parents...
