Born to a miner and a tea shop owner, Byakko always had this strange need to prove himself. He wanted to learn the way of the sword, but his parents believed him to be too young at the time. However, another miner who was once a monk taught Byakko some basics of the Fist of Ralgar. As he grew, Byakko continued his training and even mimicked some of sword training done by the other students. When he became of age, he left for Eorzea, making his way to Thanaland. However, on the way there, he had a strange dream as well as what felt like aetheric sickness. That was the time his adventure truly began.

Many years after joining Fairy Tail and becoming one of many who became the Warrior of Light, the essence of his former self, the White Tiger of the West, has been unleashed, turning his body from Hyur to Miqo'te, truly becoming the White Tiger Incarnate.
