I walked away from people who harmed me deeply through emotional abuse because I have dignity and enough self love both which helped me realized that I didn't have to tolerate mistreatment from anyone. I tolerated too much because I always saw the best in people, while I was losing pieces of me little by little. I had enough, I woke up to the facade that the relationship was. Everyone deserves to be treated with love, there's just no justification for abuse. It is not surprising, though at the time I didn't know, how once you leave a toxic situation perpetrated by the same individual, everything started aligning, good things and people started to come to my life including a much needed peace and an amazing partner who respects me, always finds ways to make me smile because my happiness is important to him. I'm glad that it's over and I can look forward to better, healthier experiences with people that truly love me and know how to love better, with an informed, stronger mindset, because now I know much more than I did before.
Someone who abuses you (emotional, physical or mental) is not able to love you or anyone until they look within themselves and realize what they're doing. I'm so glad I'm not there anymore and in a healthier, peaceful place where I can be myself.
Be mindful of who you let in your life, they don't always have your best interests at heart even if they appear to be and can damage your mental and physical health greatly. Know that they have shortcomings and issues they have a responsibility to address, say farewell for the rest of your life and protect your heart and mind.
