Backstory: Sorom Jaeger was born to a simple pair of Hyur parents. However, they were forced to give him up when they discovered that he had been born with the eyes of a demon (his crimson red eyes). His village decrees that any child born with the Demon Eyes must be executed. While their village laws decreed his death, his parents would not let their child suffer such a fate. So they sent him away to another town where he is taken under the care of a Mi'qote woman known as Ihmoh Zaujo. Sorom grew up as a happy child thanks to his adoptive mother and over time, grew to have a sort of connection with the need to explore. Ihmoh would sometimes regal him with tales of her experiences as an adventurer, which inspired him to take the profession.

He trained himself in the art of swordplay and bid his foster mother farewell, but before he left, he was given a token from Ihmoh, an earring made of aetherite that she kept with her since her retirement as an adventurer. Afterwards, Sorom left on his journey to the kingdom of Ul'dah, which would lead him down a path of destiny.
