A mutated test subject of the Garleans, Amarantha hides a rather cynical personality under an idiotic one. She somehow ends up in unfortunate situations often: though it's hard to say if this is intentional or an accident.

Amarantha has become a black mage primarily due to being unable to store mana for long periods of time as a result of Garlean experimentation. Attempting other classes with such low piety results in a need for constant mana potions, so to avoid being a hindrance. As a result she's forced herself to learn a melee class, even if she finds hands on violence distasteful.

In her off-hours she's taken to people-watching to learn more about human behavior - likely to understand new ways to influence people. It's never clear just how much of herself is an act and how much is her genuine personality. - She wants to be liked, but knows her genuine self might not be well-received.
