Lunatic Grim is a classic example of a person traveling between worlds, with a few twists in his own tale. From the get-go, he was an anomaly due to the presence of his twin sister. Normally Lunatic's species cannot have twins; they unwittingly kill each other during the gestation process. Alas, it caused some deformities for the both of them. In Lunatic's case, he became very sensitive to sunlight. As a result, he makes an effort to hide his skin.
As for what he's doing here, there is no short answer to that either. While his people tecnically ageless, they succumb to madness and destabilize after a long period of time. Lunatic's father, the ruler of their home, is no exception. A system was adopted by their ancestors that sends the "princes" and "princesses" for lack of a better term on a lengthy journey across various worlds to gain power, knowledge, and experience. Dubbed "The Pilgrimage" by the people of his home, altering his appearence to match those of the people of his destination, this is another stop on Lunatic's many travels.
Lunatic is generally quiet and prefers to explore his own mind and research rather than socialize due to the "Inconsistency of people", and while he can be quite spiteful and can hold a grude for centuries, he tends to get along with individuals quite well.
He wasn't always this way. Once upon a time, he had a playmate by the name of Kaguya. The two of them were very close, lots of her personality traits were adopted by him. A love for learning and exploration, among other quirks. They were so close that Lunatic had plans to share the rest of his life with her. Which sounds like a typical phenomenon to most, even her, but among Lunatic's people, bore massive gravity, due to the fact that they marry once in their long lifetime. However, one day, Lunatic swears an unseen force posessed him, because nothing could convince him to murder her, much less in front of everyone they knew and loved, but he did it anyway, and the experience haunts him to this day. Many years later, he discovered that his father had plans to sabotage his pilgrimage.
The ancestors very strictly forbade this and when his mother found out, she declaired her plans to steal the twins away to protect them. She was killed by his father while the child watched, and due to the following circumstances, the murder was pinned on Lunatic.
Now, looked down on by his people and being actively hunted by his twin, the pilgrimage holds personal meaning to him now. To expose the truth to his sister, to take revenge on his father, and to hopefully learn who forced him to murder his beloved, he will endure.
Little does he know, while that very same unseen force prevents him from knowing it, he and his beloved walk the same soil, never to meet face to face.
