Many years ago, Clement -- or Takara Karahashi -- was initially a part of The Confederacy, collecting the Ruby Tithe, and took pleasure from the glory of acting out in its name.
But ever since Yotsuyu came into rule as acting Viceroy and denounced The Confederacy's governance over the Ruby Sea, Takara found it harder and harder to adhere to The Confederacy's policy of forsaking former alliances, friendships and relationships if it meant that they stood idly while Doma took hits.

Powerless alone, however, Takara could do nothing but flee out to sea on her own and take refuge with yet another band of pirates in Limsa, the Kraken's Arms under her current identity Clement Thyme.
