Interestingly, the same topic is seen in TV show I watch the next day: The Crow Girl. It's not the main theme there, but still. And in a way it's even worse than in "Believe Me", but I can't get into it without spoiling the show a bit, so just watch it, because the show itself is quite good besides the plot twist at the end of the season.
