The art is great, the pacing is great, Kirito finally confirms, he swings both ways, but... I don't buy it.
I dropped this after Mio tried to kiss Shun early in the movie, because it felt... Fake, I guess. There is no actual background for them to develop feelings besides Shun ogling Mio from afar, because he's a [closet] shotacon. Mio liked him from the get-go for bread? And after a few days of conversations kept the feeling for 3 years, as if he is love of his life?
I do not see it. Like at all. Sympathy... Ok. Love?.. Not likely. Banana Fish was way more realistic in this regard, even though it was relatively subtle in its BL theme. If the initial connection was better written, I'd continue watching it, but as is, I decided not to waste my time.
And, BTW, I am saying this with experience of "love from first sight".
