This is a new peak for romantic comedies. At least if you do not expect a hard-boiled horror. Which the trailer kind of implied, but not necessarily, so I do understand somewhat low ratings. But if you watch this like a dark comedy - it's great.
I have not have this much fund watching a movie in quite some time now. It has quite a good balance in terms of humor: not that dark most of the time, not dumb, with some moments exaggerated just a enough to not feel absolutely absurd, but it also is not trying to be too realistic (and thus potentially suffocating). In a way it's like "Scary Movie", but for people who actually matured with their age. And the chemistry. Gods, the chemistry between Olivia and Mason - just perfect. Like a cherry on top of the (relatively) good writing. Perfect casting. perfect execution of and actually quite romantic bonding.
Of course, there can be some minor things that one could nitpick here and there. Some of them can be explained away by the plot-twists, some are not so lucky. But overall, I really enjoyed it, and if I had a habit of rewatching movies, I probably would add it to rewatch list even.
