A Quiet Place Part II

Why did I even decide to watch this? I do not remember much from the first movie, besides that it did have a good atmosphere and the basic concept for the story is interesting, but that was pretty much it. I think I fast forwarded it closer to the end, though. With this one, I just gave up after half of the movie or so. It's just... It makes so little sense even within its own rules.

I mean, you can see it very early in the movie: the dad seems to somehow know that the aliens react to sound. There were these little things he did, that gave away that knowledge, but why would he know that? They are supposed to be a new thing, no? Maybe this is explained in "Day One" spin-off, but I do not think I will waste my time on that one. Then the fact that deaf girl goes to be a "superhero", which is just stupid. The fact, that she is deaf does not give her advantage in survival at all, because she still makes sounds, has no idea how loud other things are, when she interacts with them, and she will not hear the aliens, too. I mean, one almost killed her, because she did not hear from afar.

Oh, and that "base" where they hid early in the movie? The factory-looking thing? Not only does it have big metal things, that could reverberate under certain conditions, but it's clearly a place, that what have a lot of echoes because of its architecture. Aliens would hear the sounds easily. At the same time, they hide underground, and still keep whispering through meters of concrete.

The atmosphere is still relatively good, it looks good and sounds ok, but it just falls apart in my mind. It's not as bad as that TV show "See", which fell apart within first 5 minutes or so, but still quite bad. Moviemakers should get physicists and biologists and anthropologists (at least) for these kinds of projects, so that they can help them make more grounded worlds and stories. If they did that, such movies could become instant classics.
