I was annoyed by this movie. And it took me awhile to figure out why. I mean, actors seemed ok, visually it was ok, music was ok, although it did not fit most of the scenes. But then I decided to check reviews, and practically the first one made it clear for me: it's the characters.

They are completely unlikable and extremely shallow. They are not really developed even within 2 hours of the movie. They stayed essentially the same as the the teenagers that we see in that "teased threesome" (which did not happen: spoiling this for you, so at least some people will save their time). Motivations are small, interests are narrow. And it's simply not believable.

Don't get me wrong, I can understand "drama", I can understand bad choices and passion, but this was just... Underdeveloped. Characters were doing things, not because they had feelings, but because screenwriters told them to do those things. I mean Art and Tashi were married for several years and had a kid, but the way they were portrayed felt like they were strangers for the most part, I would not dare call them friends even, because they seemed to be using each other, rather than trying to make each other happy.

In fact, I'd say, if you want a movie that will convince you how not to do relationships - this is the one. Manipulation, lies, silence, pretense... Not like I expected Me Before You here, with its somewhat fatalistic positivity, but still. There was no shred of happiness anywhere in this movie. While a lot of issues could have been solved if they just talked. And maybe decided to have a group marriage or something. And I am not saying this kind of drama can't happen in real life, but it's just not believable. Maybe if this was a TV series, they would have enough time to develop the characters and their relationships instead of basically turning all of them into psychopaths.
