Somehow has more of a Stephen King's vibe than 2023's Boogeyman. I still felt bored, but I know that I could probably enjoy reading such a story. Theoretically, at least. I know that there is a book (not by King), and I see how it could be interesting even with slow start, because there is probably way more context, thoughts and feelings to things, which this movie is just not delivering. I mean, I can see how in written form the masturbation scene, which serves as the start of the movie, could work as a great hook to the personal story of Eileen. It would describe how she has somewhat complex and possibly conflicting emotions about the act (or not), her thoughts telling us what she wants, needs, maybe a bit about how she was brought up. In the movie it just felt like a cheap attempt at "shock content" for the sake of "shock content". Unfortunately what followed also felt kind of empty to me without character's inner monologue, so I could not bear to watch it more than half an hour at most (probably less).
