Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft

Cheap money grab. Parasitism on fandom. My knowledge of the character is limited to Tomb Raider trilogy (the one that started in 2013), since I never played other games (or at least not enough to learn enough of the character), but I do not think that's the Lara fans would want. She did not feel neither like an actual adventurer, nor like an aristocrat, nor like a survivalist... She even became a literal brawler and a drunkard very soon into the 1st episode. Ok, maybe not a drunkard, but definitely a brawler with potential alcohol problem. That's truly a female Indiana Jones to me.

But even if I am just missing some important parts of the character, the beginning of the episode did not make much sense to me. The "protectors" felt kind of random, the whole bridge suddenly losing almost all the wood from 1 step... I mean, that's not how physics works, but even if I am to believe that, why did she then throw a new rope, when the bridge's ropes were still intact? They are supposed to withholds way more than just her weight, and would still probably be safer than somehow throwing over a new rope, that's relying on a small stick getting stuck in a stone. Then the cave in also did not make much sense, let alone completely flooded floor of this temple or whatever.

Maybe I am missing some intricate design here, though, and I just need to accept this. But where the hell did that grey-haired guy come out? It looked like the path, Lara was taking, was the only one, and it seemed to be quite perilous. And yet, here was this guy... It was also unclear whether Lara was surprised by seeing him or not, because her reactions were all over the place. So much, that I thought he was an illusion. But apparently not.

All this ridiculousness also looked extremely cheap and half-assed. The animation was not that good, was not dynamic enough even during "action" scenes. Felt like this was made just for the sake of making it, nothing more. If they wanted to do something good, it would have made more sense to just ask Crystal Dynamics or Eidos to make a CGI animation based on the games. They also had great sense of tombs' structure, thus all those weird nonsensical mechanisms, actually did make some sense, at least in terms of the overall layout.

Maybe this was done with similar idea as Borderlands? Just to make people return to the games? Because I am not sure if a lot of people would willingly watch it till the end.
