Mushoku Tensei but with less humans? Not sure I like the dynamics so far: most of this stuff could have been done as flashbacks further down the line. Will give next episode a try, but my expectations are quite low.
Episode 2:
I do not like it. It is too slow, yet it does not use that slowness to develop the characters and tell us much about them. The small pieces of lore are also... Too small to care much about them. I also can't really believe the interactions of the characters thus far.
I am curious about the circumstances of this quartet, so I will give it a chance to explain it (at least to an extent) in the next episode. If not done - drop it to save time.
Episode 3:
Too boring, slow. Too manu words and they rarely connect. 3 episodes of prologue for the actual journey. And looks like the 4th will be roughly the same. Most of the 1st 3 episodes could have been condensed and then into 1 episode. Or even told through flashbacks while also expanding lore. But alas, they wanted linear story for no reason and no benefit.
