Most if the time when an anime starts with "grandiose" narration of "people got attacked by demons, but heroes rose", that's an indication of a poor story. And I think this is the case.
I simply do not believe anything I am seeing. 200 years and people have accepted oni as masters? That would imply that bushi were very rare and they would have died by the time of the anime. A guy has trained his sword skills while usine a scythe, that everyone considers a pickaxe, while it clearly stands out for absolutely no reason? The guys are too happy that their "fears" were true.
