This is just stupid. The kids are stupid, even though their environment suggests that they should posses at least some ability to logical thinking. I would understand them attempting a dangerous, untested, unproven thing if they were not spending time at a laboratory listening to periodic lectures from their parents, but this is... Just unrealistic.

Also the concept, when described by the parents makes very little to no sense. How the hell do you even know there is a Parallel Shift possibility if no one is capable of that but seemingly 1 person? How exactly are you trying to measure something which would appear to be completely random and practically impossible to link to anything like the concept of Parallel Shifting? Real science has some variable evidence of deja vu being linked to epilepsy, and this is something that the author could leverage, but instead there is this BS.

The idea itself is interesting. But the author went in without even trying to do some research to at least sound plausible, and did not try to make the 2 main characters anything but plain stupid. In fact, that institute or whatever is full of idiots, if an unfinished potentially dangerous device (especially since they know nothing about how it's supposed to work) is left completely alone and unattended with very easy access for frigging kids.

I stopped seriously watching this somewhere around 35-40 minutes point and then just fast-forwarded stuff. Fast-forwarded the 2nd movie as well. The 2nd one makes a bit more sense, since there the research of Parallel Shift seemed to be at least partially based on actual occurrences of the phenomena, and the phenomena itself was presented somewhat better because of disorientation.

I understand, that I may be too harsh here, but I am a strong believer, that when you are writing a story that is based on real-life or that is supposed to be SCIENCE-fiction - you need to do due diligence and research related stuff. Heck, I still have an unfinished story, which is centered heavily on spiders and mythology related to spiders, and I've spent literal hours reading on various types of spiders, their behavior in different circumstances, their physiology, as well as on some gods that are associated with spider. All for the sake of making it feel real.

In this show, author did not do this, and just forced a weak gimmick on us.
