I am not sure from the episode what the show wants to be about. Searching for a copy? Or treating humanoids? And are those humanoids like androids or are they initially humans? It feels more like a one-off story, like an episode of Black Mirror, rather than 1st episode of a series.
Also I believe the dad was selfish. I think even the girl would have handle mom's death better, that whatever she will have to edure now.
Episode 2:
As a singular story - there is practically no progression in 2 episodes, and what we have only barely amounts to a story.
As an anthology series - too lackluster, not pushing the main character in any way, and... Not even believable. But maybe because androids are still being depicted as humans and almost human bodies. I mean why would you need an android that needs training to get faster?
