Recently, I've bought Lenovo Legion Y740-17IRHg laptop to replace my home PC. A good purchase, IMHO, at least totally within my expectations. Buying a suitable backpack for it turned out a bit problematic, though.
I originally wanted Metrobag 17 from BG Berlin, for it looks, USB passthroughs and pockets. Sadly, it turned out to be a bit more narrow than expected and and I could not even hope to get the laptop into appropriate compartment.

Luckily I was able to find 6 potential candidates on regard.ru and today I had a chance to try them all out and find my "winner".

My highest hopes were for HP Executive Backpack (6KD05AA). It's relatively cheap and the most suited as a "city" backpack. Sadly it was too narrow, too. I mean I could have pushed the laptop in, but that could damage the "pocket". If not from the get-go, then overtime.

Same thing was with Omen Gaming Backpack Black/Red (4YJ80AA). And even, though, I would have preferred a fully black one (there are models like that), I was not a fan of the quality of the materials. Somehow they felt cheaper than the backpack itself. Although, to my mind it's the smallest backpack of those, I've tried and looked, probably the most "slick". If it was full-black.

Next there was Razer Rogue Backpack V2. Despite its gaming roots it still looks pretty "mature", with little to no green elements on the exterior. Materials are good as well, although, not sure they explain the price. But either way, my Legion Laptop also did not quite fit into laptop pocket, with virtually same result as the previous 2.

Next was Cozistyle Urban Backpack Travel Leather Black. It was small for my laptop, too, but, damn, that leather. Quality was amazing. No wonder it's the most expensive of the bunch I've tried. It screams "premium".
Then there was another HP one, this time Omen X Transceptor Backpack. Materials are great as well. Significant portion of the backpack is done with some rubberized material, which is very pleasing to touch. I am not convinced by the front strap, which opens sideways (it's not obvious), or by the long sleeve that makes the main compartment quite deep, or the bulge at the bottom (another set of compartments), though. While it did fit my laptop (barely, though), I felt like it distributed weight closer to my hips, rather than over lower back, which is not how it should be.

So, the winner was... ASUS ROG Shuttle Backpack. Materials do feel cheaper compared to Transceptor, but it has a dedicated laptop compartment, that should fit even an 18 inch laptop, distributes the weight quite a bit better and is cheaper. "Phone" pocket is not large enough for Zenfone 5Z, though, and the front of the backpack looks a bit weird, if there is nothing inside, but I can live with those.

I know the above is not much, but I hope it will help those who are looking for a backpack among the mentioned contenders.
