Yeah, that's a kids' show. Plain and simple. And probably aimed to cause nostalgia as well. For me it worked with Ranma, but that one felt more... "Mature"? It was not just comedy for comedy's sake and flashiness for flashiness' sake. It had more depth to it from the start, even when it was being stupid. This one does not seem to have that. It's just a kid who is made all-powerful and overly fixated on his sword. Of course, there will be future episodes where depth would be added, and he will be taught "valuable life-lessons", and he will probably grow (just a tiny bit), but I am not willing to wait for that. Especially since art-style is not my thing, and I still just can't emphasize with the boy.
