This is highly under-appreciated. I mean, yes, it's far from perfect, there were better shows, but even compared to original X-Men... It was good. There was clear story through out the season, some difficult topics were touched upon, even though a bit shallow, but it was meant for kids, after all. The "loss of power" or sudden limitations to it was a slightly overused trend, but on the other hand it worked well "unknown space" theme, not unlike how original Star Trek and Next Generation worked. Main complaint here is the cliffhanger in the final episode, but I guess that's because the show was cancelled after 1 season due to some ownership disputes.
BTW, if you are a fan of Guardians of the Galaxy, it may be interesting for you to see some of the characters from there. It's their past, obviously, and it is somewhat altered compared to "canon" or MCU, but still. Personally, I did not know that Drax was actually smart (relatively) at some point and could fly.
