From what I've read, it looks like it's better to read the book. Too bad I read that after I watched the movie. it's just weak and lackluster. The characters are flat and uninspiring, the story is chaotic and feels cliched. Which is strange, considering the premise could be quite interesting. Judging from articles about changes that Netflix did to the story, it probably was written in a more interesting way. Possibly quite a bit more complex. This feels like addition of diversity for the sake of diversity, but with the main message that "it's not the looks, that count, but what's inside". Except there are no ugly people in this movie, and even if that's the point, it did not feel real for them to feel ugly. The world presented in the movie in general is not believable. Maybe if it was a TV show it could be better, but looks like this was a way to laundry some money, and not try to make decent entertainment.
