We need more shows like this. Probably, more than movies, from which it span off (that is The Batman with Pattison). It's really good. I think it delivers perfectly, why Batman comics became popular in the first place: complex and human characters. Or at least those Batman comics, that I read, and that were without supernatural or aliens.

You can actually feel for characters here, even though they are all, technically, "villains". They have quite clear and relatable motives, they show their feelings, I would even say vulnerabilities, and you start thinking: "Oh, they are not that bad". It almost feels like you can justify all the lies and plotting and double-crossing. Heck, probably some of the killing, too. Even the acts of brutality, feel... Different from a lot of media. They leave this special emptiness inside. Maybe like when a bang near you leaves nothing but the ringing in your ears. You are shocked, and yet there is some sort of understanding.

And it's all very grounded, very realistic, very believable. That's what I liked about the movie, too. The format also works great here, since episodic format suits flashbacks way more. It simply allows you to have more time to flesh out the little details of the past, so that it is more relatable, and more "connected" to the present. I even would prefer franchise to continue with TV shows, instead of movies.

A special note and applause for Cristin Milioti. All actors did a great job, but her especially. Maybe it's just her eyes, but certain scenes look amazing with this feeling of rage under the surface of apathy. The way she portrays  very different mental states of Sofia Falcone is pure perfection, give her an award. Heck, give the show an award and 2nd season.
