I heard earlier this week, that Glassdoor de-anonimizes users, and I thought, it's bad, I won't use them anymore. Luckily I did not have much there to begin with, so no biggie. But today I learnt, that they also silently use users' information to create them accounts on Fishbowl without users' consent. Don't know about you all, but I went in to both services and deactivated my accounts there. Yes, that means that I had an account on Fishbowl as well.

De-anonimazation is bad, but that's technically their product, they can do whatever they want, and if you were not watching what you typed, it may be kind of on you. Or at least, I can understand their spin on this to an extent, although I do not support it: if you provide an anonymous service, you need to keep it as such, or if you want to change that, you need to notify people, at least, and provide them with ability to remove the content (which you can do on Glassdoor).

Copying your account details from one service to another without consent, though... That's a big problem from security and audit perspective, even, if not necessarily from data privacy (it depends). You are not using an SSO-like service, that provides access to 2 products, which means that you are either copying the account data or you are using 1 database, accessed by multiple *unrelated* products, and you do not notify me of doing that... I can no longer trust your product in any way.

So my advise for anyone reading this is to deactivate your accounts on both services, too, and not rely on either of them.
