Not as bad as Ultimate, but still not good. Another hit and miss from Disney: they do not seem to understand what Spider-Man is, and what made people like the story. This Peter is not relatable. I did complain about him being a playboy in Spectacular, which did not sit right with me, but he had to struggle with things there to become that playboy. At least "kind of".
In this one, similar to Ultimate he gets a big safety net right away: prestigious school, full of like-minded geeks (that obviously will turn into same super-friends, as in Ultimate), work at the lab, where he can still do what he likes, and not photography, which he was not a fan of (as far as I remember comics). He is no longer an underdog or a misfit.
But even that is not enough: he lied quite early in the show with no reason to. He tells aunt May, that he got a scholarship, instead of work. Calls it a "white lie", but... Why? Why keep a job a secret? It does not make sense, and only promotes lying, which is not something you want a relatable hero to do. Lying about being Spider-Man - that's one thing. Lying about a job like this - completely different.
And it's also quite boring and and villains designs seem... Not good. Similar to Ultimate, I was hoping to watch some potentially interesting adaptations of good stories from comics, but it's just not good enough to stick with it for that long. The only thing good about it were Peter's earlier struggles with his powers, that are usually skipped by other adaptations, but that's not enough for me.
